| Ariel (Jodi Benson) is happily married to Prince Eric (Rob Paulsen) and they are celebrating the birth of their first child Melody. (Tara Strong). King Triton (Kenneth Mars), Ariel’s Father, present Melody with the magic locket of Atlantica. However, the sister of the evil sea witch Ursula, another witch called Morgana (Pat Carrol) is plotting to avenge her sister by stealing Triton’s trident and conquering Atlantica. Ariel decides that to keep Melody safe from Morgana she will tell the girl nothing about Atlantica. She gives the locket back to Trident, who tosses it into the sea. Melody grows up in a strictly controlled environment. However, Triton has sent Sebastien (Samuel E Wright) to watch over Melody, who has a love of the ocean and has been sneaking out to swim. On one of her clandestine trips to the sea Melody finds the locket, and demands that Ariel tell her the truth, but Ariel, still afraid of Morgana, simply scolds her daughter for breaking the rules. Melody steals a small boat and runs away, where she meets Morgana who tells her the truth of her heritage and tries to get the young mermaid to help her to steal the trident |
